Sarashina, a village in Shinshu, has been famous for its moon since the Man'yoshu period (710-794), and Basho, a Japanese haiku poet, fell in love with this place. It was in this area, surrounded by spring water and terraced rice paddies, that Basho wrote his Sarashina Travels and founded our company. For more than 300 years since then, we have continued to brew traditional handmade pure rice in the same brewery as when the company was founded.
