The parent brewery was founded in the Meiji Era (1868-1912), but after a wartime hiatus from 1944, four local breweries joined together in 1947 to form Takeno Sake Brewery Co. Located in the center of the Tango Peninsula, the rich subsoil water of Mt. Takeno Sake Brewery is located next to the rice paddies where the first agricultural land reform in Kyoto Prefecture took place during the Meiji Era (1868-1912). As a result, the brewery is constantly surrounded by abundant foreshadowing water. We value our local community, and we make our sake with an emphasis on rice.
