As a sake brewer, Hanabusa Uemon (Uemon) was the first generation around the 2nd year of Bunsei Era (1818-1912). After the Meiji Restoration, the Hanabusa family began to concentrate on the sake brewing business when the seventh generation, Hokichi Hanabusa, became the head of the family. The Hanabusa family developed into a "1,577-ton sake brewery" and began calling itself "Hanabusa Honke Sake Brewery. Hanabusa Honke Brewery is renamed Muromachi Brewery Co.
