When the company was first established, it was engaged in the production of cotton and soy sauce. In 1935, about 100 years after its establishment, the warehouse was moved to Asahi-cho, which is said to have the best water in the city. During the war, the warehouse burned down, but the company overcame the difficulties with the power of tradition and continues to this day. It is said that the sake is named after the founder, Jihei Yagi, who named the brewery "Tambaya" after his hometown, and "Santan Masamune" after his family crest and the famous sword "Masamune" for the sharpness of the sake.
