Masamitsu Masaki, the founder of the company, dug a horizontal well on the property, believing that "spring water suited to sake is important for good sake brewing. This water, which continues to spring up to this day, nurtures sake with a mild taste. Since 2001, the company has switched to a family-owned sake brewery led by the current president. Under the motto of "Quality is Life," the brewery uses water from the headwaters of the Shimanto River and rice produced mainly in Ehime Prefecture, and has carried on the traditional taste of sake brewing with great care to this day. The sake "Nomushi" was named after a bullfighting bull that was owned by the grandfather of the current president. Despite its light weight, this Nomushi was a yokozuna and gained great popularity.
