- Shiwa Sake Brewery is a small sake brewery located in Shiwa Town, Shiwa District, Iwate Prefecture, known as the “birthplace of the Nanbu Toji.” Founded in 1903, the brewery was established when the first-generation founder, Kihei Hirota, took over a local sake brewery that was highly regarded in the area at the time, and has continued brewing sake ever since. “Koki,” created with the aim of producing “sake that brings joy to a wide range of people,” remains the brewery’s flagship brand to this day. Currently, led by Toji Ono—the first female Nanbu Toji—the brewery is dedicated to exploring the theme of “the umami of rice.” Starting with the 2017 vintage, the entire “Koki” brand has transitioned to the “Sanki Amazake Moto” fermentation method. To further refine our brewing techniques and get closer to the essence of “the umami of rice,” the entire brewery is working together with dedication. In recent years, we have also launched the "Shisora" series, a new limited-distribution brand that pursues a fresh and juicy flavor profile.

In a relaxing space with a southern bent house motif, you can enjoy not only Japanese sake, but also local beer, wine, and other Iwate alcoholic beverages, as well as the seasonal flavors of Iwate.
You can enjoy Iwate's famous cold noodles and jaja-men, Morioka's specialty, along with fresh seafood from Sanriku, and Iwate's alcoholic beverages such as Japanese sake, local beer, and wine.
The interior of the restaurant has a soothing atmosphere with an atmospheric mix of Japanese and Western influences. In this chic bar-like space, you can enjoy Iwate's local sake, beer, wine, and dishes that go well with the sake at the counter or at tables.
This restaurant serves a variety of locally brewed sake and wine from Shiwa Town—including our own—as well as homemade dishes made with plenty of locally sourced meat and vegetables.
A robata-style izakaya where you can savor ingredients from Shiwa and fresh fish delivered directly from Miyako, all accompanied by the aroma of charcoal grilling. This establishment offers locally sourced dishes that highlight the natural flavors of the ingredients, along with a selection of local sake and Shiwa wines.
"Ginka" is a restaurant with two distinct sides: fresh rice balls by day and over 100 varieties of sake—including local Iwate brands—by night. Be sure to try our selection of over 30 types of freshly made sushi, all crafted with the finest ingredients.

Located in the same old Suwari Village area of Shiwa Town, it is the closest lodging facility to the brewery, about 3 km away. The large Western-style and Japanese-style baths with natural hot spring water are spacious and comfortable. The alkaline nature of the hot spring is gentle to the skin, and is known as "Bijin-no-yu" (hot water for beautiful women). You can enjoy sake from the Shiwa Sake Brewery and other breweries in town, as well as cuisine that makes the most of local Shiwa specialties.
