- Azumamine Sake Brewery was founded in 1781 as "Shiwa Shuzoten" in the mid-Edo period. Its predecessor was the "Gonbei Sake Brewery," which was the first brewery in Iwate to produce "clear sake" in the Kamigata style during the Enpo era (1670s), which later led to the creation of the Nanbu Toji clan. The brewery has inherited the main stream of the Nanbu style of sake brewing and produces a small amount of sake (about 500 sake bottles per year) with the aim of creating "Iwate-style sake".
