Rokkasen is located in the center of Yamagata Prefecture, with the Ou Mountains in the background. We have adopted modern facilities at an early stage, and our basic philosophy is to brew sake by hand, using a fusion of people, nature, and technology to ensure consistent quality and a great deal of sensitivity. Rokkasen is committed to maximizing the power of microorganisms, which is indispensable for sake brewing, in other words, "pure fermentation. With "pure fermentation" as our theme, Rokkasen continues to aim for sake that can be enjoyed and appreciated by our customers on a daily basis. In 1972, Yamagata Meikozo Co., Ltd. was established as a joint bottling plant for five sake breweries in the Kitamurayama area of Yamagata Prefecture, and in 1985, the Rokkasen Sake Brewing Cooperative Association was established to handle the brewing division. Rokkasen Sake is brewed with the aim of creating sake that gently resonates with people, like the waka poems composed by Rokkasen, an outstanding poet active in the Heian period (794-1192). From ultra-dry sake to sparkling sake, we continue to challenge the possibilities of sake.
