- The Heart of Daikichi Ohki Brewing joy and taking on the challenge of making new sake. Since 1865, Daikichi Ohki started brewing sake in Yabuki, Fukushima, Japan, and has been taking on the challenge of brewing sake ahead of its time in harmony with the rich natural environment of Yabuki. Since then, we have been trying to brew sake that is ahead of its time, in harmony with the rich natural environment of Yabuki. We are not afraid of making mistakes, and we never compromise on the precision of our sake brewing. We share the joy of drinking sake with our customers and always pursue deliciousness. To achieve this, we nurture our people, protect nature, and pass on a rich brewing culture to the next generation. Yabuki, a town full of pioneering spirit and rich nature Once a desolate plateau-like wilderness called Yukikatano, Yabuki is known as a pioneer town with a history as one of the three largest pioneer settlements in Japan. Yukikata was used as a hunting ground for the Imperial Household Agency during the Meiji period and as an airfield for the army during World War II, but it has always been poorly watered and there were major challenges in cultivating it as agricultural land. In 1956, as a national project, cultivation of the area began with water running from Lake Hatori upstream of the Tsurunuma River. After overcoming various difficulties, the desolate wilderness was transformed into a lush green countryside. It is truly a town where the frontier spirit of our forefathers lives on.
