- 酒蔵について
- Our company was founded in 1937 in Mashiko Town, Tochigi Prefecture, a region famous for Mashiko-yaki pottery. The water we use for brewing is soft, medium-hard water from the Kinugawa River system, which originates from the underground waters of the Nikko mountain range. We use carefully selected sake rice from Tochigi Prefecture and other regions across Japan. Leveraging the traditional techniques of master brewers certified in both the “Nanbu Toji” (Iwate) and “Shimotsuke Toji” (Tochigi) schools, as well as various data, we are committed to crafting our sake by hand. Regarding our sake brands, we produce our main brand, “Sanran,” and the limited-distribution brand, “Bo:.” The name “Sanran” originates from the wish that “those who drink it may shine brightly.” A key feature of our brewing is that over 95% of the rice used is grown in Tochigi Prefecture. By not imposing restrictions on alcohol addition or alcohol content, we brew with the hope that people will fully enjoy the local culture of Tochigi—including sake, Mashiko-yaki pottery, and agricultural products—in a wide variety of settings. Meanwhile, the “Bo:” brand was launched over 10 years ago as a limited-distribution product under the concept of “Challenging Tomorrow’s Sake.” Unlike "Sanran," "Bo:" features a variety of sake-brewing rice sourced from across Japan. Furthermore, by imposing three specific constraints—"Junmai specifications," "16% alcohol by volume," and "unfiltered genshu"—we aim to express the diverse characteristics derived from the raw rice through a wide range of flavors, offering a different way to enjoy sake compared to "Sanran." In addition to sake, we also produce other alcoholic beverages, including shochu made from rice flour derived from our brewing rice, fruit-based liqueurs, and doburoku. To help more people discover and appreciate these products, we have established a museum and a café on our premises.
