Yachiya Sake Brewery began in 1583 when its founder, "Kamiyauchiya Jin'emon," emigrated from Owari to accompany Lord Maeda Toshiie, the founder of the Kaga Hyakumangoku domain, in order to brew sake exclusively for his lord. In 1628, Yachiya received the name "Kagatsuru" from the lord, which was given by the lord by adding the shop name "Yachiya", the word "Kaga" for the province of Kaga, and the congratulatory "Tsuru" for a crane. Mr. Shoji Yamagishi, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Noto Touji, is currently the head of the Suzu Branch of the Noto Touji Association. He has 21 years of experience as a toji and has won the gold medal in the National New Sake Competition nine times.
