Founded in 1804, the first brewer, Nizaemon Ishidaya, established the company in Matsuoka, Eiheiji-cho. Since then, based on the philosophy of "making good sake," which has been passed down to successive generations of brewers, we have been pursuing sake that is unique to Kuroryu. We have continued to make sake by hand, using sake rice carefully cultivated by farmers and good water from the Hakusan mountain range. We have also been exploring new possibilities for sake, and have been pioneering in the industry. We continue to challenge ourselves to innovate while preserving the traditional techniques, thinking about the moment when the customer "tastes" the sake.
