The sake brewery Engi is located at the foot of the Shiga Kogen plateau in northern Shinshu. The name of the brewery, Tamamura, is a reference to Tamamura in Jyoshu (present-day Tamamura-cho, Saba-gun, Gunma Prefecture), where the founder, Kisoji I, was trained as a sake brewer. The sake brewed in the limpid water, clean air, and cold temperatures of this mountainous and beautiful region has been loved and nurtured by many people for more than 210 years.
