酒蔵について
Sawada Shuzo was founded in 1848 at the end of the Edo period. Tokoname, where the brewery is located, is known as the birthplace of Tokoname ware, the oldest of the six oldest kilns in Japan. Tokoname Pottery has flourished through trade on the sea routes since ancient times, and has developed by fusing new cultures brought from various regions with traditional cultures, becoming the largest production center of the Six Old Kilns in the Middle Ages. Since then, Sawada Sake Brewery has been pursuing sake brewing in this town where craftsmen have gathered since ancient times, and where sake brewing is an integral part of daily life based on the principles of evolution and tradition. The name "Shiraoi" is said to have originated from the combination of "Shira," meaning "beauty," and "O," meaning "longevity and maturity," which was created by Giheiji Sawada, the founder of the brewery. We have been and will continue to make sake with care and attention to detail to live up to this name.
