Umenoyado Sake Brewery "Creating a New Sake Culture Nara is considered to be the birthplace of sake, the first Japanese alcoholic beverage. Umenoyado Sake Brewery is located in Katsuragi City at the foot of Mount Katsuragi in the Nara Basin. Proud of its location, Umenoyado Sake Brewery has been making Yamato sake since its establishment in 1893. The sake's name "Umenoyado" is a reference to the 300-year-old plum tree in the garden of the old brewery, where a bush warbler flies in and enjoys the elegant chirping of its song. In recent years, the sake liqueur "Umenoyado Aragoshi Series" has become a big hit, and is popular not only with sake drinkers but also with a wide range of people.
