The brewery where Kikuyaei sake is made is located in Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture, in a quiet residential area near the Ryuzozan Iinkoji Temple, where Sesshu, the great painter, served as the fifth head priest and created his own garden. Since its establishment in 1877, Okadaya Honten Co., Ltd. has been brewed with great care by brewers who wish for the prosperity of people every day, based on the meaning of "Kiku Ya-ei," which means "Wishing for the prosperity of Japan. Although our history is short, we have continued to sell locally and steadily, without ever selling sake to major manufacturers. In 1998, we started to produce rice shochu, and we have been making daily research efforts to keep this wish in mind, and our shochu is now highly regarded in the local market. The pleasant aroma and deep flavor cultivated by our daily efforts can be enjoyed with conversation and seasonal snacks.
