- Founded in 1922, the brewery is located in Mitsui County, Fukuoka Prefecture, along the clear waters of the Koishiwara River, which flows into Kyushu's largest river, the Chikugo River, in the Chikugo Plain, a region of idyllic rice paddies. Since its establishment, the brewery has continued to make the most of the power of nature to create authentic sake. In 1990, when the storage of sake in single bottles and refrigerated storage were not yet common, Tokutei Meishu sake was already stored in refrigerated storage. As of 2022, 21 years after becoming the toji of the brewery, the brewery has won 20-1 in the National New Sake Competition, and brews sake with confidence.
