Cut and Cook Central

A long-established local kappo restaurant established in 1928. In addition to Japanese cuisine using seafood from the Ariake Sea, the restaurant's signature dish is chanpon, a thick tonkotsu (pork bone) flavored dish. The restaurant also offers a wide selection of locally brewed sake, allowing diners to enjoy both local cuisine and sake at their leisure.

mountain teahouse

This restaurant is a hideaway deep in the mountains of Kashima City. It is so hidden that it cannot be seen from the road. Only reservations are accepted, and the restaurant is open only for one couple per day. Chicken and wild vegetables cured on the same day are grilled over an open hearth. The owner's homemade a la carte dishes are also excellent. The basic course is 3,000 yen per person. You can bring your own sake. Or rather, if you don't bring your own, only bottled beer is available. Note that it is not accessible on foot or by public transportation, so a representative is necessary.

Izakaya Yatagarasu

This izakaya is located right in front of Yano Sake Brewery. It offers a wide variety of creative dishes at reasonable prices. The level of food is generally high, and the restaurant offers excellent cost performance. In my opinion, the tempura here is not at the izakaya level. They also have a full lineup of local sake, which is highly satisfying.

地元おすすめの宿

Ryokan Tsurusou

This onsen ryokan is located in Tara-cho, in the southwestern part of Saga Prefecture. You can fully enjoy the seafood of the Ariake Sea spread out before your eyes, including Takezaki crab (gazami), as much as you like. The sake bar is one of the best in the prefecture in terms of selection of Saga Prefecture's sake, and you can try many kinds at the sake server. The cheerful, upbeat, sake-loving owner is also highly recommended.
