What is WGO (Wine Glass Oishii Nippon Sake Awards)? This year, the 11th annual contest is one of the largest in Japan, with 1,000 entries from 261 sake brewing companies across the country. The "Sparkling SAKE" category, in which Shuwashiwa entered, won the "Highest Gold Award" exceeding the narrow 5.4% threshold. Silver Medal at the "International Wine Challenge (IWC) 2018 Won the Gold Medal at the "Delicious Sake in a Wine Glass Award" 2019 Received the Gold Medal at the "Delicious Sake in a Wineglass Award" 2020 Sparkling sake that uses only carbon dioxide gas from secondary fermentation in the bottle. It is a refreshing sake with a perfect balance between the sweet taste typical of Kamishin and the fine bubbles created by the in-bottle fermentation. It is recommended as a toast or as an in-between-dinner drink with Japanese and Western cuisine. It also has a low alcohol content in the 5% range, so it is recommended for those who are not strong drinkers or those who want to drink it in large gulps!
